08.21.17
We bow low, Director of the skies;
A shadow falls today.
Forgive us, Maker of the sun and moon;
Light turns to darkness today.
Don’t hide Your face from this nation, oh God;
Don’t shield Your eye from our view!
Don’t lift Your hand from among us, great King–
We are defenseless, bare, without You.
Rescue Your people from blindness, oh Lord;
Black sin is obscuring our sight.
Deliver the Lost from delusion and lie,
We wait for the flood of Your Light!
Don’t hide Your face from this nation, oh God;
Don’t shield Your eye from our view!
Don’t lift Your hand from among us, great King–
We are withered, cold, without You.
The light of Your face is all we need;
Its dazzling beauty we crave.
The grace of Your gaze keeps darkness at bay–
Oh Lord, do not turn away.
Don’t hide Your face from this nation, oh God;
Don’t shield Your eye from our view!
Don’t lift Your hand from among us, great King–
We are hopeless, dead, without You.
Repent! Repent! Turn away from your pride;
A shadow falls today.
Run to Jesus – no time for delay!
Light turns to darkness today.
Light turns to darkness today.
Light turns to darkness today.
“It will come about in that day,” declares the Lord God, “that I will make the sun go down at noon and make the earth dark in broad daylight. Then I will turn your festivals into mourning and all your songs into lamentation…Behold, days are coming…when I will send a famine on the land, not a famine for bread or a thirst for water, but rather for hearing the words of the Lord. People will stagger from sea to sea and from the north even to the east; they will go to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, but they will not find it.” Amos 8:9-12
“Seek the LORD while He may be found. Call on Him while He is near.” Isaiah 55:6
“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.’” John 8:12
